Take responsibility for your game!

Below are common reasons why junior tennis players do not reach their stated goals. Taking personal responsibility is paramount to the process of becoming a good player.

Players often have not learned to push themselves physically in practice, not patient, not focused, too social (this one is common), having unrealistic goals, having no goals, poor footwork habits, lack of motivation, only want to have fun, poor concentration, lack of time management and organization, unable to control emotions, lack of competitiveness, fear of failure, too much doubt and indecisiveness, lack of commitment, lack of routine and unrealistic goals. Also, player perspectives on winning are often not realistic or helpful to the process and losing is not dealt with correctly.

Also, parents need to stop "helicopter parenting". It is detrimental to the developmental process. Kids are resilient and hard wired to deal with problems.  Let them learn and grow without too much interference! 😀
